At Mound Builders State Park a "Great Circle" has been preserved for posterity. This circle was once part of an expansive Hopewell geometric earthworks known as the "Newark Works.' So large is this circle that during the late 19th century a fairground and a 1/2 mile race track existed within it's walls. During construction of one of the fairground buildings a spectacular archaeological discovery was made.
